Words From Commentary“Out of this nettle, danger, we pluck this flower, safety.”  ~William Shakespeare

Since every good quote seems to come from the Bible or Shakespeare, I think it’s necessary to take a look at what ol’ Billy Shakes has to say about security. For those who are unfamiliar with the word, nettle is, as defined by Dictionary.com, is “any plant of the genus Urtica,  covered with stinging hairs”.

Shakespeare describes danger as this plant with presumably very thick foliage. I can imagine life to be full of such thickets, one where it may be a bit difficult to navigate easily, thus the presence of danger. Yet, in the midst of the perilous brush, there’s a plush bloom softening the trip through it. So, would we truly know safety if it wasn’t for danger? Shakespeare makes it clear that although danger exists, out of it comes a sense of security.
